In this blog, we will demonstrate how you can utilize saved searches in NetSuite to allow users to view the Purchase Requests of other users, particularly those within the same department, in the Employee Center. This capability can be particularly helpful in scenarios where users are restricted to accessing only the Employee Center due to license limitations or security compliance requirements.

By default, NetSuite users can only see the Purchase Requests they have personally requested in the Employee Center. However, with a simple trick using a saved search, users can now access and view Purchase Requests of others within the same department. This feature fosters collaboration and transparency within the organization, empowering employees to stay informed and make well-informed decisions.

To implement this feature, log in as an Administrator or a role with permission to create Purchase Order saved searches. Navigate to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Saved Searches > New > select Transaction. In the Criteria tab, add a filter specifying that the Department equals the current user’s department to ensure that users only see Purchase Requests from their own department. Customize the Results tab to display pertinent information such as Requester, Date, and Amount. It is crucial to check the ‘Run Unrestricted’ checkbox to allow users to view other users’ Purchase Requests.
